June 3, 2012
A "Young Eagles Day" on June 9th will be hosted by the 2012 Mid Hudson Chapter 1359, of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Inc., based in Kingston. The day will start at 9:00 AM and continue until 1:00 PM at the Kingston-Ulster Airport, Route 32 (Flatbush Road). We will be offering free airplane rides to young people age 8 through, and including, 17 years of age. The flight will be approximately 15-20 minutes long and will be around the local Hudson Valley area. Our goal is to fly 75 young people on this day. The rain date is June 10th, same time and place. Parents may accompany their "Young Eagles" only if space and time permits.
This is the 109th anniversary of powered flight. On December 17, 1903 the Wright brothers flew the first powered airplane for about 12 seconds at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The EAA members have flown over 1,000,000 "Young Eagles" over the years. Chapter 1359 has flown over 1,500 "Young Eagles" since August 2001.
Come and join us in celebrating this momentous occasion. If you have participated in a "Young Eagles" flight in the past you may do so again. Reservations are not required, but a parent or guardian must be present to sign a consent form supplied at the event.
