Exemptions: Agricultural

The New York State Legislature initially enacted the New York Agricultural Districts Law in 1971 to protect and promote the availability of land for farming purposes.  The Agricultural Districts Law also provides for reduced property tax bills for land in agricultural production.  Owners whose land satisfies the eligibility requirements may apply for an agricultrual assessment exemption.  In addition, there is also an exemption for certain Farm Buildings.  Remember, all new and renewal applications must be in the Assessor's Office by March 1st
